15-5PH Martensitic Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel Powder

15-5PH is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel developed from the 17-4PH grade. Compared to 17-4PH, it features lower chromium and copper content and higher nickel content; consequently, after heat treatment, there is a reduced likelihood of ferrite formation and less agglomeration caused by an excess of dispersed strengthening phases. In addition to high strength, its standout advantages include high transverse toughness and excellent formability. This grade is primarily used in service environments requiring high strength, good toughness, and good corrosion resistance at temperatures below 300°C, such as for high-strength forgings, high-pressure system valve components, aircraft engine parts, and fasteners.

15-5PH is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel characterized by high strength, high hardness, and excellent corrosion resistance. It offers outstanding transverse toughness and ductility, as well as excellent forgeability. Its processing characteristics are similar to those of other precipitation-hardening stainless steels, and age hardening can be achieved in a single step via low-temperature heat treatment.

15-5PH exhibits excellent oxidation resistance in environments below 593°C. Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures can lead to a reduction in the toughness of precipitation-hardening stainless steels; however, the extent of this reduction can sometimes be mitigated by the choice of aging temperature. The material can withstand short-term exposure to high temperatures provided the peak temperature remains at least 28°C below the aging temperature.
